The H-SEIF framework is a set of collaboration tools and methods based in the fields of systems engineering, system architecture, system-oriented design and participatory design, and with the intention of improving radically, ground-breaking and disruptive innovations.

This phase, Phase 2 of the Human Systems Engineering Innovation Framework (H-SEIF 2) will create a collaborative framework that empowers effective systems development, specifically aimed at making data-supported early decisions.

This project will expand the cooperation framework and open up the possibility of being able to make the right decisions at an earlier time. This must be done by getting hold of unspoken information and making this available for useful knowledge early in system development. The project will update the existing framework with the latest in simulations, digital twins, data analysis and Big data solutions.

H-SEIF's main goal is to show the world how we can reap value from Big data and digitization through human system development. In addition, the project aims to:

  • Increase the degree of innovation at the partner companies by incorporating human needs early in the process when the systems are designed
  • Show that better results are achieved when researchers interact with industry partners to solve relevant challenges
  • Create pride and awareness of the project among all partners and target groups
  • Show the region that academia and business are working towards a common goal that will give Norwegian business a decisive competitive advantage (relevant research)
  • Create more knowledge and new ways of using Big data
  • Using Big data in a business context
  • Changes business models using Big data

Dissemination and conversion of Big data can be one of the keys to taking a leading international position in system development.

The project partners Kongsberg Defense and Aerospace, Kongsberg Maritime, Yeti Move, TechnipFMC, ECIT, P-plan, the Kartverket, Semcon and Kongsberg Innovation work together to:

  • Use the framework to develop new innovation opportunities
  • Deliver viable and attractive products and services to both existing and new markets nationally and internationally
  • Showcase the possibilities nationally and internationally
  • Pay attention their customers and their demand for data-driven methodology
  • Monitor the customer's behavior and desire for innovation collaboration in the early phase.

Other projects

  • Norwegian Battery Packing Network. The main project's goal is to ensure that Norway takes a position in the global battery value chain, and to ensure a higher rate of change in the green shift for Norway.

  • The Norwegian Advanced Design and Innovation Centre, is a national test and competence center within design for additive manufacturing with a mission to offer performance products to Norwegian structural engineers.
